Illegal Aliens In Canada Complaining They Aren’t Getting All The Free Aid They Were Expecting
Illegal immigrants in Canada are finding out the hard way that they are not going to be privy to the extensive benefits and “freebies” that they were given while living in America.
When President Trump took office, he announced a major overhaul of America’s immigration system. The most basic level of this overhaul simply meant enforcing immigration laws that were already on the books, but, in addition, Trump was also proposing a temporary travel ban on countries with known terrorist hot-beds to give the government time to strengthen their vetting process.
At the same time, Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, issued a Tweet that was viewed as a call of welcome to the immigrants of the world, and some interpreted it as a slight against the American president:
“To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength. #WelcomeToCanada.”
Since that famous Tweet, Canada has experienced a surge of illegal immigration with immigration officials reporting that the country has taken in more immigrants since May of 2017 than it had in all of 2016.
The result is a situation in which America’s northern neighbor was ill-prepared for, and in which asylum-seekers are living in conditions in which they are unhappy with.
42-year-old Ahmed Iftikha told the Canadian Press that his family has lived in several temporary shelters including a hotel, a former convent, and an Olympic stadium, but that he is having trouble finding a permanent residence for his family.
“I want to leave here but I don’t know what to do.”
Asylum-seekers are expected to find their own housing after receiving their first social assistance checks, but they are also expected to use part of that money to pay for their rent.
Another illegal alien, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed frustration that they did not have a cell phone or a lawyer to assist with the process. They said,
“Six hundred or $700 dollars isn’t a lot to eat with, to sleep with.”
Still, the influx of illegal aliens is only expected to increase as time goes by.
30-year-old Marie-Junie Joseph explained why,
“I came because the door is open here, because I heard Canada is open to immigrants.”
Apparently, when there is a Canadian Prime Minister, a German Chancellor or even an American former community organizer announcing that a nation’s borders are open and welcoming, it serves only to promote a situation in which illegal immigration increases to the point where the nation can no longer handle the influx of illegals.
