Hilarious: The Best Hillary Meme Ever
After every mass shooting, whether it is radical Islam, unhinged Leftists, black or white supremacists, or any other mentally unstable subset of the population behind the attack, there is always a large cry for “common sense” gun control laws to be passed.
These arguments are often made by Liberals and Progressives, and are rooted entirely in emotions, with very little facts to back them up.
The idea is, people died, so we must do something about the guns in the country.
To start with, let’s revisit the Second Amendment:
“…The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
The Second Amendment is very clear that the government may not chip away at the people’s rights to bear arms. There is no addendum that says the Second Amendment can be curtailed as long as the gun control laws are, as Hillary Clinton likes to call her new proposed gun regulations, “Common sense.”
Moving on, however, it must be pointed out that additional gun control laws would have done nothing to stop previous mass shootings. There is not a single proposed law or regulation that would have prevented the Las Vegas shooting, the Orlando nightclub shooting, the San Bernardino workplace shooting, the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church shooting, or the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting.
In fact, many of the recent mass-shootings have taken place in “gun-free zones” where the rules do not allow guns to be carried.
California Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein even admitted that no proposed law would have stopped the Las Vegas shooter during an interview on Meet the Press:
The reason we can confidently claim that mass shootings cannot be stopped with new laws is that every mass shooter in American history has already made the decision to ignore the laws when they opened fire on their innocent victims.
Murder is already outlawed, and there are already laws on the books that require background checks and waiting periods for those seeking to legally own a firearm.
Additional gun restrictions would have no affect on the criminal element of society. In fact, you could make a law that would allow the government to confiscate every single gun in the United States, and the end result would be that the only ones left with firearms, among the general population, are the criminals.
“Common sense” gun control laws will only serve to infringe the right to bear arms for the law-abiding and responsible citizens of society.
