Non Citizen Sentenced To 8 Years For Illegal Voting
A sentence has been handed down to the Grand Prairie woman who was charged with voting in the American election process without first meeting the requirement of being a legal citizen.
Rosa Maria Ortega, 37, has been sentenced to 8 years in prison for voter fraud. You know, the thing that Democrats say does not happen in America.
Ortega applied to vote in Tarrant County, but her application was rejected based on the fact that she was not a US citizen. Though she is legally allowed to reside in the country due to being married to a citizen, she had not yet gone through the immigration process.
Five months later, according to NBC out of Dallas and Fort Worth, Ortega applied to vote again, only this time she claimed that she was a citizen.
Investigators learned that although she had not voted in Tarrant County, she had voted a total of five times in neighboring Dallas County.
Illegal voting is a 2nd degree felony and is punishable by two to twenty years in prison.
Voter fraud has become a hot button issue recently because Republican lawmakers have been pushing to require identification to be present at the ballot box. Their argument has been that citizens need to show their identity to drive a car, purchase beer or cigarettes, or even to receive welfare benefits.
Democrats, however have said that the requirement to show identification at the voting booth is a disenfranchisement to the poor and minorities. Inexplicably, they seems to believe that it is impossible for a person to obtain a state identification card because of their net worth or their skin color.
Voter fraud became a large issue during the 2008 election cycle that saw Barack Obama become president when charges were laid against ACORN, a community organizing organization. Several prominent leaders within ACORN’s Las Vegas branch were convicted of voter fraud.
Investigative journalist James O’Keefe hammered home the problem of voter fraud when he posted a video that showed a man posing as Barack Obama’s first Attorney General, Eric Holder. The man is seen walking into a poll location and saying,
“Hello, do you have an Eric Holder?”
The poll worker then marks the name in the book and attempted to hand a ballot to the individual despite the man claiming to be Eric Holder not having his identification.
The video also shows Eric Holder himself claiming that there is no proof that voter fraud is happening in the US.
According to the Washington Post, non-citizens like Maria Ortega, who participated illegally in the election process, could have created enough of a presence to influence the election of Barack Obama’s in the first place. In light of that, it seems to make sense why the Democrats are fighting so hard to protect Sanctuary Cities in the US.
The Blaze reports that seventy five percent of Americans are in favor of voter identification laws and that eighty one percent of those polled see voter fraud as a problem.
The question is now whether or not the Republicans, with control of the White House and both chambers of Congress, can pass legislation that would require voter identification at the ballot box.
