Liberal Compassion? Professor Is Fired After He Implies Hurricane Harvey Was Karma For Texas Supporting Trump

By  |

A Liberal professor faced national backlash and lost his job after posting to social media that Hurricane Harvey was simply “karma” for those within the red state supporting Donald Trump.

As thousands of Texans along the Gulf Coast found themselves displaced due to the record-breaking rainfall, and rescue crews were working hard to rescue survivors in flooded areas, University of Tampa professor, Ken Storey Tweeted,

“I don’t believe in instant Karma but this kinda feels like it for Texas.”

Campus Reform reports that the professor then said,

“Hopefully this will help them realize the GOP doesn’t care about them.”

This must be what passes for compassion for Liberals. Apparently, human life only matters as long as those humans share the same political ideology.

Storley was quickly challenged for suggesting that Texas deserved Hurricane Harvey, and he responded to one poster by claiming that his comments were merely meant for the Republican Texans.

“Well, the good people [of Texas] need to do more to stop the evil their state pushes. I’m only blaming those who support the GOP there.”

The backlash continued for a full day before Storley finally apologized for his insensitive remarks,

“I deeply regret a statement I posted yesterday. I never meant to wish ill will upon any group. I hope all affected by Harvey recover quickly.”

After hearing about the controversy, officials at the University of Tampa fired the sociology professor, and issued the following statement,

“We condemn the comments and the sentiment behind them, and understand the pain this irresponsible act has caused.

Storey has been relieved of his duties at UT, and his classes will be covered by other sociology faculty.”

Although the university’s response was appropriate, the concern is that Storey’s opinion is all too common in the world of Liberalism and Progressivism.

For many, on the Left, a person who has an opposing point of view or belief is, at best, somebody who uses hate speech that must be silenced, and, at worst, not even worthy to be alive.

Share this if you think the fascism that the Left is always complaining about is actually within their own movement.
