Liberal Compassion? Professor Is Fired After He Implies Hurricane Harvey Was Karma For Texas Supporting Trump
A Liberal professor faced a national backlash, and lost his job after posting to social media that Hurricane Harvey was simply “karma” for those within the red state supporting Donald Trump.
As thousands of Texans along the Gulf Coast found themselves displaced due to the record-breaking rainfall, and rescue crews were working hard to rescue survivors in flooded areas, University of Tampa professor, Ken Storey Tweeted,
“I don’t believe in instant Karma but this kinda feels like it for Texas.”
Campus Reform reports that the professor then said,
“Hopefully this will help them realize the GOP doesn’t care about them.”
This must be what passes for compassion for Liberals. Apparently, human life only matters as long as those humans share the same political ideology.
Storley was quickly challenged for suggesting that Texas deserved Hurricane Harvey, and he responded to one poster by claiming that his comments were merely meant for the Republican Texans.
“Well, the good people [of Texas] need to do more to stop the evil their state pushes. I’m only blaming those who support the GOP there.”
First of all, what is the evil that the Left seems to think that resides within the Republican Party?
How is it possible that the Republican Party is the evil party when it is the Democratic Party that literally went to war to keep African Americans enslaved? It was the Democrats that enacted Jim Crow Laws, started the KKK in America, and filibustered the Civil Rights Act. The Democratic Party literally had a white supremacy emblem as one of their official state party symbols.
How did the image of each of the parties do a complete 180 so that the Democrats are now the party of Civil Rights and the champions for the oppressed given their sordid history in America?
In any event, the backlash against the Liberal professor continued for a full day before Storley finally apologized for his insensitive remarks,
“I deeply regret a statement I posted yesterday. I never meant to wish ill will upon any group. I hope all affected by Harvey recover quickly.”
After hearing about the controversy, officials at the University of Tampa fired the sociology professor, and issued the following statement,
“We condemn the comments and the sentiment behind them, and understand the pain this irresponsible act has caused.
Storey has been relieved of his duties at UT, and his classes will be covered by other sociology faculty.”
Although the university’s response was appropriate, the concern is that Storey’s opinion is all too common in the world of Liberalism and Progressivism.
For some reason, according to the beliefs of some of the more unhinged and radical Liberals, those who do not believe in their ideology or view the world in the same way have very little value.
For many, on the Left, a person who has an opposing point of view or belief is, at best, somebody who uses hate speech that must be silenced, and, at worst, not even worthy to be alive.
The hate and anger in the United States is too often, and this has been the case for as long as the Democratic Party has existed, resided solely on the Left.
Share this if you think the fascism that the Left is always complaining about is actually within their own movement.
