Trump Looks Prepared To Build Wall, Asks DHS For All Documents Related To “Assets Available For Border Wall And Barrier Construction”
Donald Trump is moving forward with his plans to enforce the immigration laws of the United States as he is asking the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for documents and reports pertaining to orders from the Obama administration as well as an analysis on the feasibility of securing US borders.
The request includes information on every executive order and directive that President Barack Obama issued to immigration enforcement agents since taking office in 2009.
This may potentially include the catch-and-release orders that Border Patrol Union President Brandon Judd was testifying about on Capital Hill.
According to Judd, all a captured illegal immigrant had to do was claim to have been in the United States for a certain amount of time, and as long as they have no prior felony convictions, they were released. He said,
“The willful failure to show up for court appearances by persons that were arrested and released by the border patrol has become an extreme embarrassment for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It has been so embarrassing that DHS and the US Attorney’s Office has come up with a new policy.
Simply put, the policy makes mandatory the release, without an NTA (Notice To Appear), of any person arrested by the border patrol for being in the country illegally, as long as they do not have a previous felony arrest conviction, and as long as they claim to have been continuously in the United States since January of 2014.”
Judd expressed his frustration at the Obama-era policies by proclaiming,
“We may as well abolish our immigration policies all together.”
It should have been only a small surprise to find out that, for the first time in American history, the National Union of Border Patrol Agents officially endorsed a presidential candidate, Donald Trump.
It is assumed that Trump is asking for DHS to provide every Obama executive order and directive related to immigration so as to know exactly how to reverse the damage done to the immigration system.
The second thing that Donald Trump is requesting is an analysis on what assets DHS has available to build a physical barrier along the northern and southern borders of the United Stats, expand an aerial surveillance system that was cut back under the Obama administration, as well as an analysis on what it would take to build more or expand existing immigration detention centers.
Do you see this as Trump delivering on his cornerstone campaign promise to enforce the borders of the United States?
