[VIDEO] Trump Administration Looking Into Affirmative Action As Race-Based Discrimination In College And University Admissions

By  |

The Trump administration is considering whether or not Affirmative Action policies would be examples of race-based discrimination.

This according to an internal Justice Department memo that was obtained by the New York Times.

The memo was reported to be a recruitment effort, looking for lawyers from the Justice Department’s civil rights division who would be interested in investigating and possibly litigating “intentional race-based discrimination in college and university admissions.”

In other words, this new Justice Department project is being designed to go after any campuses that discriminate against white students due to adhering to Affirmative Action policies.

“The announcement suggests that the project will be run out of the division’s front office, where the Trump administration’s political appointees work, rather than its Educational Opportunities Section, which is run by career civil servants and normally handles work involving schools and universities.”

Even before the task force has begun, Liberals have already come out against its mission, claiming that the civil rights division of the Justice Department is not the place to be going after Affirmative Action policies.

Kristen Clarke, the president of the liberal Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, told the Times that the civil rights division was

“…Created and launched to deal with the unique problem of discrimination faced by our nation’s most oppressed minority groups.”

Still, Conservatives are looking favorably at this move, reasoning that Affirmative Action is outdated and an obvious form of reverse-racism.

By placing the color of a person’s skin above the content of their character or their abilities, a system of racism is undeniably created.

While making decisions based solely on a person’s race, gender, or sexual orientation may have been the norm in the Obama administration, Donald Trump is reminding us that equality and fairness is not about propping one race or gender up over another, but is instead about giving everyone an equal opportunity to succeed.

Share this if you think the Trump administration is right to go after Affirmative Action policies.
